Angela Shenfor Doctors of BC President-Elect

The vision

I will collaborate
and connect.

I'll continue the work already underway while helping shape the next chapter for Doctors of BC — listening first, bringing people together, and making sure every member feels heard. Leadership, for me, means service: to physicians, to patients, and to a health-care system we can all be proud of.

Why Angela

Three priorities I'll
carry into the role.

If elected, I will focus on three priorities.

1. Strengthen the Physician Voice

I don't believe in being collaborated at. Physicians deserve more than consultation after decisions have already been made. We deserve meaningful engagement, real dialogue, and a seat at the table where policy and system decisions take shape.

I will:

  • Ensure Doctors of BC remains a strong and independent advocate
  • Advocate for physicians across all practice settings
  • Increase engagement with physicians across all regions and specialties
  • Strengthen relationships with government and health authorities
  • Amplify frontline physician perspectives in health system planning

2. Champion Physician Well-Being, Practice Sustainability, and Fair Compensation

Physicians need the time, resources, and support to provide excellent care.

I will advocate for:

  • Meaningful reductions in administrative burden
  • Sustainable workloads and practice environments
  • Fair compensation across specialties that reflects the value, complexity, and responsibility of the care we provide
  • Payment models that support recruitment, retention, and long-term sustainability
  • Expanded physician wellness and mental health supports

3. Build the Physician Workforce of the Future

A strong healthcare system depends on a strong physician workforce.

I will champion:

  • Improved recruitment and retention strategies
  • Support for medical students, residents, and early-career colleagues
  • Pathways that help physicians succeed throughout their careers
  • Support for rural, remote, and underserved communities
  • Streamlined pathways for internationally trained physicians
Experience

A physician who has
lived both sides of
the profession.

“

I will collaborate and connect. I will continue the work already underway while helping shape the next chapter for Doctors of BC.

Together, we'll strengthen our profession and build a sustainable, inclusive, and effective health-care system — for physicians and the patients we serve.
